"Characters Matters II"
During the week of October 19th, school districts throughout the state observe New Jersey School Violence Awareness Week. During this week, students in grades K-5 attended an assembly program musical performance entitled, “Character Matters II.” This performance was given by our Peer Leaders, Peer Leader Community Liaisons and the members of the Student Council. The play is a musical that uses familiar fairy tale characters to convey important messages about how character matters! Students listened as The Little Ducklings and friends sang about the “Golden Rule,” Snow White and the Dwarves taught about “Gratitude." The Witch and Hansel and Gretel imparted an important message about “Being a Good Neighbor.” The Princess and the Pea, King and Queen will taught strategies on “Being Polite.” Many other fairy tale characters shared messages about taking responsibility, being honest, and showing kindness. Our eighth grade leaders were very excited about performing for our primary and intermediate students. Our middle school students participated in an activity during advisor/advisee period that focused on looking for the best in others; dreaming big; choosing positive influences; speaking with kindness and starting a chain reaction of kindness.
